How customers opt in to text messages
Shop Check In is check-in software for auto body and collision repair shops, operated by Smart Apps Lab LLC. When a customer checks in a vehicle, on the shop's counter tablet or on their own phone at the shop's check-in link (for example https://smartappslab.com/checkin/<shop>), they reach an optional step asking whether they want repair updates by text.
The opt-in step
- The customer enters their mobile number on the contact step of the check-in form.
- A separate screen, "Get text updates?", shows the number texts will go to and the consent disclosure below, with links to the text message terms and privacy policy.
- The customer chooses "Yes, text me" or "No thanks". Nothing is pre-selected, and choosing "No thanks" does not affect their check-in or repair.
- When the customer opts in, we store the exact disclosure text they saw, the language (English or Spanish), and the date and time, with the check-in.
Consent disclosure shown to the customer
By choosing "Yes, text me", I agree to receive automated text messages from [Shop name] about my repair, including status updates and pickup notices, at the number I provided. Up to 10 messages per repair. Consent is not a condition of service. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help.
The same disclosure is shown in Spanish when the customer views the form in Spanish.
Messages customers receive
- A confirmation right after they opt in: "Hi Maria, your 2019 Toyota Camry is checked in at Lone Oak Collision. Questions about your repair? Reply here or call (713) 555-0142. Repair updates: up to 10 msgs per repair. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, STOP to opt out."
- Messages from the shop about the repair, such as when the vehicle is ready for pickup, and the shop's replies to the customer's questions. Shops can optionally turn on automatic status updates.
No marketing or promotional messages are sent. Phone numbers and consent are never sold or shared with third parties for marketing.
Opting out and help
Customers can reply STOP (or UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, QUIT) at any time to stop all messages; their number is then blocked from further texts. Replying HELP returns contact information.
